UMak delegates present their papers at the 1st KaMaG-Aral National Conference

University of Makati delegates from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) and College of Innovative Teacher Education (CITE) attended the 1st KaMaG-Aral National Conference organized by the Social Sciences Research and Extension Institute (SSREI) of the College of Social Sciences, University of the Philippines (UP) Baguio, and the Katipunan ng mga Mananaliksik at Guro ng Araling Panlipunan (KaMaG-Aral), with the theme, “Social Studies Education in the Post-Pandemic Era” on August 1-3, 2024 at Teatro Amianan and College of Social Sciences, UP Baguio.

The three day conference featured keynote speeches, plenary sessions, and paper presentations that took a closer look at the state of social sciences education in the Philippines. The event also highlighted the Museo Kordilyera Tour, and orientation on the Graduate Programs of the College of Social Sciences of UP-Baguio.

UMak delegates showcased their respective studies in parallel sessions according to their specialization in social sciences.

In the field of Local History, Dr. Arnel M. Leonardo from CITE presented his research, “Avenidang Ayala: Isang Multi-Dimensyonal na Pagsusuri sa Kasaysayan, Pulitika, Ekonomiya at Sosyo-Kulturang Pamana, University of Makati.”

The category of Pedagogy consisted of two curriculums. In Pedagogy I, CLAS delegates Prof. Dorothy G. Nayra, Prof. Joshua B. Samulde, Prof. Linber Allan C. Eugenio presented their study titled “Naka-Adjust na ba?: Experiences in Pedagogical Shift of Teaching Social Science Courses, University of Makati”. As for Pedagogy II, two groups of researchers participated with the first group consisting of Prof. Mark Philip C. Paderan, Prof. Marivic E. Cuizon, Prof. Judith M. Armendares from CLAS presenting their study titled “Indigenized Ecofeminist Reading of the Panganod: A Post-Pandemic Perception, University of Makati,” and the second group comprising of CLAS faculty Dr. Cristopher Alvin M. De Guzman, and Mr. Jose Emmerico P. Cruz, with CITE’s Prof. Junlor C. Dacsa I, presenting their paper, “Post-Pandemic Learning Styles of Social Science Students at the University of Makati
